Morning Rise Stud… The Story So Far.

Although we are only a short way into the journey, Morning Rise Stud is very proud of our achievements to date.

Having established a first-class thoroughbred stud farm on the rolling hills of the renowned horse breeding country of the Mornington Peninsula, not only can we boast outstanding surroundings and facilities, but we have also assembled a high quality broodmare band.

On the track we have experienced success at the highest level. We identified a two year old filly named Yosei after just her second career star. Morning Rise negotiated a share in the filly just before she ran a close up third behind the very good filly Shamrocker in the VRC Sires Produce Stakes.

But more success would follow as a two year old with Yosei winning the time honoured Group 1 AJC Sires Stakes. With a gun ride provided by Michelle Payne, Yosei beat the good colts Skilled, Toorak Toff and Hinchinbrook as well as quality fillies More Strawberries and Divorces in a courageous performance.

After a short break Yosei came back as good as ever for her Melbourne three year old campaign. Lining up in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield, Yosei again showed her class by taking out the race in convincing fashion.

Once Yosei retires from the track we look forward to her breeding career.

And while it’s only early we have also had success with progeny raised at our property. Breaker Theory (Galileo / True Doubt) was sold to Japan from the Inglis Premier Sale in 2009 and has won half a million dollars in prize money in that country.

We look forward to watching the future careers of our graduates sold at all the top Australian yearling sales.

Amongst them an outstanding filly by champion stallion Encosta De Lago and out of the well credentialed Danehill mare Danevade selling for $300,000. Sold to James Bester Bloodstock, it is sure to be given every chance of racetrack success. We also had a More Than Ready / Coincidental colt sell to Mark Kavanagh for $150,000, a Danehill Dancer / Zafair filly sell to New Zealand for $80,000, and a Holy Roman Emperor / Belisarda filly sell for $50,000.

Morning Rise Stud has a lot to look forward to!
